The Florida Class D license is required to work in the private security profession in Florida. According to Florida Statutes 493, the class D license requires 40 hours of professional security training to complete state licensing criteria. The class D license training equips security guards with the abilities required to work in private security. The security guard training includes courses on access control, patrolling, ethics, terrorism, fire watch, medical emergencies, and emergency preparedness. Once students complete the security guard training program, they can apply for a Florida security license and begin working immediately.
The Florida Class G license is required to work in the private armed security profession in Florida. The Florida Statewide weapons License course lasts 28 hours and is taught by certified weapons instructors who are former military and law enforcement personnel. This firearms training course is intended for beginners and advanced students, focusing on marksmanship fundamentals, marksmanship concepts, gun safety, loading and unloading, 4-step draw, clearing malfunctions and legal difficulties encountered when working as an armed security guard.
We also offer the option to register for both the Florida Class D License and the Florida Class G License if you need to take both.
